Sunday 22 June
Cathedral, Sumpter Yard, St Albans - 10am - 2 Hours

Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

The guide, Will, was very good and knowledgeable and gave us a good introduction with tips on Street Photography for the first hour in the caf?. Then he gave us a few exercises and challenges as we walked along Brick Lane and asked us to meet him at various points. Then we met at the end and reviewed our photos and commented on them before we parted ways. It was a good morning.

I was happy with the photos that I took at the event. The leader, Alice, encouraged us to try a range of techniques and portrait styles. She also encouraged us to ask passers-by if they would pause for a moment to pose for a shot. I also got a few good shots of myself, which is always great for someone who is often behind the camera.

This place in the center of downtown on King Street always looks different depending on the weather, time of day, wind... This shot was taken along with 3000 others images on my first ever photo shoot during Covid. I hired a model I had seen and had come to do pool shots with another Photographer and he suggested I hire her and conceptualize the shoot. I?m not a professional and had no props but I bought some fabric and I used my leaf blower to make that effect. I periodically go back to those pictures and rework them with my iPhone apps for varying effects. You can see more of my work on Instagram. That day creat

Thank you for considering my photo for Photo of the Week! I have a number of bottle brush trees in my back yard, and birds love the blossoms when they bloom in the Spring. I usually see numerous hummingbirds and sparrows, but I saw this gorgeous bird one afternoon resting in the branches. I was able to get a couple of shots off before it flew away.
